High School Music
Our adapter in our car broke so we have no way to play our iPods. We are used to listening to CD's and the radio (so archaic, I know!). So after the past six months of the same CD's, I decided to bring out all my CD's from High School. As I have been popping in some of my old favorites, I'll say "Wow, I didn't know it said that." or "Man, there are a lot more inappropriate things than I thought." I have actually been quite embarrassed listening to these songs with my husband, admitting they're my favorite and having to switch them when the language isn't quite appropriate. Don't get me wrong, I listened to a lot of good music too but there are a few songs here and there that I'm a little ashamed of. After the music lecture and learning the power of lyrics, it makes me realize how careful I need to be. In high school I was innocent to what the words meant or listened to the song because it was popular. I want to make sure that music is a force for good in my life and not something that brings me down.

I have totally done that same thing! I listen to a song I haven't listened to for awhile and think about how it used to be a favorite and then after I listen to it I'm shocked that I didn't realize how inappropriate it was.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing! It's crazy how I've never noticed what some of the lyrics are to songs that I liked years ago and listening to them now, I realize I didn't pay close attention to the media that I participated in.
