Google Calendar

This week I have been thinking about how grateful I am for my Google calendar. I know that's kind of lame but it helps me remember everything I have to do in a week. I can also get it on my phone which is a huge help to me. If I can enter something in my calendar, I won't forget to do it. Thank goodness for Google calendar that helps me balance my work, school, internship, and family life!

The Internet

As I have been reading Chapter 11 in the textbook in preparation for class tomorrow, I am reminded of how powerful the internet is. It is incredible how young it is but how quickly it has become a staple of life.  It is essential for education and is even becoming essential for life in general. I think we are extremely blessed to live in an age with such an incredible and almost unbelievable piece of technology. The scary thing is that the internet an also be powerful for negative. There is so much junk out there and even if you aren't searching for it, your bound to see inappropriate things at some point or another. This makes me nervous about the future and raising kids. Who knows what it will be like in ten years from now! However, this also motivates me to be an active parent in my child's life and to be involved in their media consumption.  Although the internet can be a source for negative it can also be a powerful source for good. Through the internet I was able to find this entertaining e-card....
Probably.

What lies beneath...

I have been reading the article for class today and it is reminding me about how my fright endures long after I see scary movies. I am a pretty big wimp when it comes to scary movies and usually have to be holding on to someone the whole time and spend about 40% of the movie closing my eyes. One specific experience I remember is when two of my girlfriends and I decided to watch "What lies beneath." Some of you may not find this movie extrememly scary but for me, I was terrified. (especially just watching it with two other girls) I'm pretty sure we were all hurdled together, holding on to one another. One of the scariest scenes happens in a bathroom and another part of the movie involves a key. So after the movie, we're all sitting around and we put on America's funniest home videos to ease the tension. However, I am still scared AND I really have to go to the bathroom. Bad combo after watching that movie. So I get up the courage and make my way to the bathroom. Lo and behold, right outside the bathroom door are a bunch of keys! With one looking exactly like the one I saw in the movie. I froze. "GUYS!" I yelled out. "I'm going to the bathroom with the door open. Don't come back here." I couldn't imagine locking myself into a bathroom after a movie like that. Anyways, I probably made record time with that bathroom stop.

Eye of the Sparrow

So my husband has a new favorite YouTube video. He cried the first time he saw it because he laughed so hard. When he showed it to me, I didn't cry but it was pretty funny. Its a bad lip reading of the presidential debate. If it doesn't make sense to you, that's okay, it's not supposed to. Enjoy!

The Four Gospels

Three years ago, I decided to take on a challenge from my brother to read the Four Gospels in December. It prepared me for Christmas as it put my heart in the right place and helped me focus on Christ. I was amazed at how it transformed the Holiday season. This year I have been reading the four gospels again and have loved the spirit it has brought into my life. If you have never read the four gospels or want to read them again, I challenge you this December to study it, pray about it and let it transform your Christmas experience.

Favorite childhood book

My favorite book when I was a child was “The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear” by Don and Audrey Wood. This book is a simple picture book about a mouse that picks a red ripe strawberry but is warned that a Big Hungry Bear can smell fresh strawberries, especially ones that have just been picked. He tries to figure out ways to protect the strawberry (with help from the narrator) and then determines that the only way to save it is to eat it (by sharing it with the narrator). The book is simple, funny, and has elements of sharing in it. The reason this book was my favorite is because I always read it when I went to my Grandma and Grandpas house. The story always caught my attention and it was always one that
I picked when I had story time with my grandma, aunts or my parents. Another reason this book is was my favorite was because of the pictures. The pictures were detailed and funny and caught my attention. I think I also loved this book because it was simple; it was a short story line that is refreshing and easy to read. I would not say that this book had an extreme impact on my life but I think that when I was young it taught me about sharing. The main impact that this had on my life is the fact that I will want to read it to my children. It reminds me of memories of fun story times with family members and so I want to recreate those memories for my children.
